Mycoremediation

Mycoremediation is an eco-friendly and cost effective form of bioremediation, the process of using fungi to degrade contaminants in the environment. Fungi including Pleurotus, Trichoderma and Aspergillus has proven to be effective in the removal of toxins and hazard waste in marine environments such as, wastewater. Mycoremediation harnesses the key to solving our current environmental issues.

  • Mycoabsoprtion is a type of bioremediation in which toxins present are passively converted onto the surface of a biosorbent material—which would be the mycelium and their mushrooms.

  • Mycofiltration is a type of bioremediation that keep water sources clean by using fungi to degrade pollutants in the water before they are able to reach larger bodies of water.
